Big Wins for Virginia

Mark Warner has been elected to continue representing Virginia in the U.S. Senate.

Elaine Luria regains her recently held seat representing Virginia's 2nd U.S. congressional district, ousting Jen Kiggans.

All three ballot measures, all supported by Democrats, passed, codifying marriage equality, abortion rights, and voting rights restoration into the Virginia Constitution.

Published results of local races show wins for three of the four school board candidates endorsed by the Suffolk Democratic Committee: Karima Lockwood in Chuckatuck, defeating the incumbent, Karen Jenkins, and Steven Cheeks.

Tyron Riddick, who was endorsed by this committee, appears to be the winner of a very close race against Dwight "D.J." James. An anomaly in the vote report which showed Riddick as having only single vote in Mac Benn Jr. precinct has been corrected.

Congratulations to our candidates who won in this election and thank you to all who ran as Democrats or Democrat-endorsed candidates. You are helping to move our city, our state, and our nation in the right direction!
